Four Principles Common Chess Openings

By admin On December 5, 2009 No Comments

For all the new chess players, they are spending their time in learning hundreds and hundreds of attacks and defense, strategies and tactics, as well as different variants of the chess opening moves. This is not an easy task; it can be regarded as one of the most impossible thing to do in chess game. It is like playing against a world chess master and it is impossible to win. This is because, there are many chess opening lines that are available and will be available in the future. Memorizing those opening lines is not just unimportant but can be also unproductive.

Instead of doing memorization in each chess opening that you would encounter, you must first learn the fundamental principles of the chess openings. In this way, you will not be troubled to memorize but will have a better understanding of the basics so you can recreate or develop your own chess openings. Those principles in the opening will not only give you the general rules on how you can effectively play the chess game opening but as well help you in a way of creating more advantageous opening advancements.

There are four common chess openings principles. The first one is the central control of the game. The squares in the square especially the e4, d4, d5, plus the e5 are the important areas on the board. Occupying these squares can allow you to have more mobility and long range maneuver of your chess pieces. The attacks in these areas are proven to be the most effective too. The control of the center squares can often turn the chess games’ opening into a really fierce battle between both of the players.

The second one is the King’s safety. Keeping your King in the safe square is the most important thing in the chess game. Winning or losing the game depends on how you protect and keep you King safe. Remember that the goal of chess games is to corner and checkmate the opponent’s King to win the game. Most chess players even sacrifice chess pieces in order to keep their King safe at all times. Sometimes, chess players castle early in the game to protect their King. Castled King is more secure than the King which is open and near the middle of the chess board where it can be vulnerable to attacks.

The third one is the quick development of the chess pieces so that they can battle much sooner than the opposing player. In this way, they can have more advantages in capturing most of the opponent’s chess pieces because the opposing army is not yet ready. Lastly, is the freedom of movement of each chess pieces so that they can easily move in the square where they are required and be more effective. If you have a chess piece that is blocked, you cannot use it to attack or defend another chess piece. In this way, it will be of no value during the game and will not give you advantage in winning your chess play.
